Personal Match UK Ltd (PMUK) – Client Terms & Conditions

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Client’s attention is particularly drawn to the provisions of Clause 8 (Termination) and Clause 7 (Limitation of Liability). These terms govern the contractual relationship between Personal Match UK Ltd (PMUK) and you as the Client. They are written in accordance with Scottish consumer protection and contract law and are designed to protect the integrity of PMUK’s bespoke matchmaking service.

  1. INTERPRETATION

1.1 Definitions:

  • Business Day: A day other than a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday in Scotland, when banks in Edinburgh are open for business.
  • Charges: The charges payable by the Client for the supply of the Services in accordance with Clause 5.
  • Commencement Date: The date the Client makes payment for the services.
  • Conditions: These terms and conditions as amended from time to time.
  • Contract: The agreement between PMUK and the Client for the supply of Services in accordance with these Conditions.
  • Cooling-off Period: A period of 14 days from the Commencement Date, during which the Client may cancel the Contract and receive a full refund provided services have not commenced.
  • Data Protection Legislation: All applicable UK data protection and privacy legislation including the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Meeting or Match Meetings: Introductions organised based on the Client’s Assessment Form.
  • Order: The Client’s request for Services, confirmed by payment.
  • Services: Matchmaking and related support services provided by PMUK.
  • Specification: The specific description of Services as outlined by PMUK during consultation.
  • Client Default: As defined in Clause 4.2.

1.2 Interpretation Rules: Standard contract interpretation principles apply.

 

  1. BASIS OF CONTRACT

2.1 The Client’s Order is an offer to purchase Services under these Conditions.

2.2 The Contract is formed upon payment by the Client.

2.3 Any marketing or advertising issued by PMUK is for guidance only and not contractually binding.

2.4 These Conditions override any other terms proposed by the Client.

2.5 Any quotation issued is valid for 20 Business Days and does not constitute a binding offer.

2.6 The Assessment Form forms the basis of the Client’s matchmaking journey. Material changes to this form after commencement may result in service limitations at PMUK’s discretion.

  1. SUPPLY OF SERVICES

3.1 PMUK shall deliver the Services using reasonable care and skill, aligned with the Specification.

3.2 Any performance dates are indicative only.

3.3 PMUK may amend services to comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

3.4 Services include reasonable efforts to find suitable matches based on The Discovery Process.

3.5 PMUK cannot guarantee a successful marriage.

3.6 Meetings will occur online.

3.7 Once a match is approved, it will be deducted from the Client’s package.

3.8 All calls are recorded for quality and monitoring purposes.

 

  1. CLIENT OBLIGATIONS

4.1 The Client must:

  • Provide truthful, complete information during The Discovery or Onboarding process.
  • Remain engaged and communicative.
  • Be flexible with preferences where appropriate.
  • Travel to agreed meeting locations to meet matches at own expense.
  • Cancel with at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid forfeiting meetings.
  • Respect privacy rules and not contact matches independently or share their information with third parties.
  • Follow a smart/ casual dress code and conduct themselves respectfully.
  • Be aged 18+, Islamically divorced if previously married, and legally permitted to marry.

4.2 Client Default includes non-cooperation, lack of communication, or providing false information. PMUK may suspend services without refund until the issue is resolved.

 

  1. CHARGES & PAYMENT

5.1 Charges are agreed at consultation. Payment is due before services commence.

5.2 Invoices must be paid within 7 days or before services begin.

5.3 Failure to pay may result in interest charges (4% above Bank of England base rate).

5.4 Payments are non-refundable after the Cooling-off Period unless otherwise specified.

5.5 Contracts may be transferred to family or friends in exceptional circumstances (admin fee: £99).

 

  1. DATA PROTECTION

6.1 PMUK complies fully with Data Protection Legislation.

6.2 PMUK acts as the data processor; the Client is the data controller.

6.3 Client data is securely stored and only processed as necessary to provide Services.

6.4 Clients may request access to their data under applicable laws.

 

  1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

7.1 PMUK’s liability is capped at £200 or 10% of the package value, whichever is greater.

7.2 PMUK is not responsible for outcomes of match meetings, undisclosed match information, or third-party actions.

7.3 PMUK is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. lost opportunity, emotional distress).

7.4 This clause survives Contract termination.

 

  1. TERMINATION

8.1 The Client may cancel within 14 days of payment if services haven’t commenced and receive a full refund. If services have begun, a partial refund will apply.

8.2 PMUK may terminate if the Client fails to pay, acts aggressively, or ceases communication for 30+ days.

8.3 PMUK may suspend services in the event of Client Default.

 

  1. CONSEQUENCES OF TERMINATION

9.1 After 14 days, all payments are non-refundable.

9.2 Clients who have attended 6 matches over 12 months may request a 10% refund if no successful match is found and all efforts to resolve concerns have been exhausted.

9.3 Clients inactive for over 30 days must pay £99 to resume services.

 

  1. GENERAL

10.1 PMUK is not liable for delays caused by events beyond its control.

10.2 Confidentiality must be upheld by both parties.

10.3 The Contract represents the full agreement between the parties.

10.4 Official communication must be sent via email to the address listed on PMUK’s website.

10.5 The laws of Scotland govern this Contract.

10.6 The courts of Scotland shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

 

  1. COMPLAINTS

11.1 Clients should first book a call with company directors. If unresolved, contact: info@personalmatchuk.co.uk and notify directors on whatsapp that an email has been sent.

11.2 If the Client does not respond within 14 days, the complaint is considered resolved.

11.3 Clients agree not to share defamatory statements about PMUK or its clients publicly during or after the Contract. This includes social media, public forums, and other media platforms.

11.4 If a Client submits a complaint but does not agree to speak with PMUK to discuss or resolve the matter, and PMUK has made at least three reasonable attempts to invite the Client to discuss the complaint (including offering available times for a call), and the Client does not accept, respond to, or attend any of those invitations, the complaint will be considered closed with no further action or liability on the part of PMUK.
